Want to Innovate?

Updated: Feb 27

The focus of this conversation is on innovation and the importance of having a "now-ist" mindset. This involves being spontaneous, adaptable, and fully aware of the current situation. It requires letting go of rigid over-planning and embracing adaptability to the current moment. However, there is a dilemma when it comes to applying this mindset in educational environments. While there is an argument for seizing the present and staying attuned to the essentials, the reality in many school settings imposes significant limitations.

Achieving a "now-ist" approach in education is challenging due to the need for both forward-thinking planning to meet teaching guidelines and the demand for flexibility and innovation. The reluctance to fully embrace this approach may stem from traditional educational structures and the pressure to cover predetermined content and achieve high exam scores.

In order for education to embrace innovation and technology, we need to undergo a systemic transformation that recognizes the value of personalized learning and being prepared for the present moment. Furthermore, the integration of technology requires not only commitment but also a flexible mindset from both individuals and institutions. This highlights the fact that successful educational innovation requires not only careful planning but also the ability of educators and educational institutions to adapt continuously. The concept of a flexible mindset is essential, as it acts as a bridge between the planned and spontaneous in the ever-changing landscape of education.
