Growth Mindset

The “yet” message involves adopting a growth mindset, which means recognizing present challenges while maintaining the optimistic belief that goals can be achieved in the future with effort and learning.

Adopting a growth mindset will profoundly alter my approach to learning. It involves a shift from fixed notions of skills to a belief in continuous development, encouraging the perception of challenges as opportunities for growth and viewing learning as a constant journey rather than a static destination.

In terms of accepting feedback, a growth mindset fosters a positive attitude. Constructive criticism is seen as a valuable tool for improvement, aligning with the belief that abilities can be developed over time. Feedback becomes integral to learning, contributing to ongoing personal and intellectual growth.

Moreover, the adoption of a growth mindset has the potential to mitigate preoccupation with grades, both for myself and students. By emphasizing the significance of the learning process, valuing effort, and embracing challenges, the fixation on grades diminishes. The focus shifts towards continuous improvement, cultivating a healthier perspective on academic achievements as a byproduct of the learning journey.

As I analyze the diagram and watch the videos, my thinking could be more flexible despite my daily challenges and pride in my achievements. While I am impressed with my resilience and discipline during periods of low motivation, a sense of inadequacy remains due to concerns about the opinions of others and the undue importance placed on tangible measures such as grades, degrees, and certifications. Although these factors are often the initial indicators for people, upon reflection, I find satisfaction and a compelling drive to move forward. Messages that affirm that if others can achieve it, so can I, and if others have achieved their goals, so will I instill confidence in myself when I face challenges, fostering confidence that I will gradually realize my aspirations.
